PhD positions at VTT

PhD positions (Research Fellow) available at VTT Unit  VTT Biotechnology VTT Biotechnology is a pioneer in the development of bioscience applications to meet the requirements of the industry. We work globally, utilising our extensive research and co-operation networks. Our core technological competences consist of bioprocesses, the functionalisation of foods, systems biology, metabolic engineering and industrial biomolecules. Our unit includes a top research unit in industrial biotechnology. Job description  VTT is starting a 4-year Marie Curie EST training project ”Enzymatic tailoring of protein interactions and functionalities in food matrix” (MEST-CT-2005-020924) and has 5 PhD positions open each one for a 3-year period. Focus on enzymatic tailoring of food proteins The objective of the Marie Curie EST project Enzymatic tailoring of protein interactions and functionalities in food matrix (PRO-ENZ) is to train young scientists in the use of modern biotechnology and protein chemistry, especially proteomics in food research and hence to give them competence for high quality product development in the food industry sector with special emphasis on enzyme-aided structure engineering of dairy projects. The project provides interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research training by combining training in molecular genetics and enzymology to training in food technology and food chemistry. As an interlink proteomics and other advanced analytical techniques are exploited for understanding the reaction mechanisms in food matrix.
